The Music Industry in Social Media

It’s been a long time since we saw record stores adorning our streets, where one could go in and get one’s favourite vinyl albums. They were replaced by cassettes and the famous Walkman which allowed the first true portable musical experience. These in turn were swiftly eclipsed by CDs which were even quicker to go out of business with the advent of online music. Now anywhere where you can get cellular reception or internet you can have any music you want any time and store a near infinite variety on your personal device for enjoyment later. Now it’s time for the next wave of advancement with social media marketing for music.

Social media and music

Social media has offered something of a revolution to the music advertising industry. Not only can emerging bands attempt to get agents and book a gig at a local pub or coffee house, now their audience is potentially as wide as the world. With the ability to be able to focus target advertising towards certain demographics, ages, genders, and certain geographic areas, emerging musicians now can advertise themselves specifically to the people most likely to be interested in their genre of music and increase their chances for the big break with greater technological muscle and less effort than in years past. Having to go to various radio stations or trying to book gigs was incredibly difficult but now with social media, people can see how good you are anytime they like without having you to assemble your band and bring them out for an audition.

Advertising potential

The advertising potential for your music is huge. Just think about the banner ads along the side of Facebook and other social media platforms allowing your ad to be clearly visible for anybody to see. This is not your most effective form of advertising, however. The best advertising you can do is through the simple word of mouth advertising that social media makes so simple. Word-of-mouth advertising is where an individual who likes your music or product you are selling simply shares it with the other people who they are linked with on social media. This can have a cascading effect allowing your initial post to be seen by thousands or hundreds of thousands of individuals within a few days. Word of mouth advertising has proven time and again to be the most effective advertising available.

Build the prestige

With social media, building your prestige is easy. You might have only played in your parents’ garage, but online you can be anyone and anything. The sky’s the limit and you can appear as big as you project yourself to be. With professional video recording, professional audio recording, plus friends and friends of friends who support you to establish an initial fan base and market potential for your music, your band can look like it’s about to be the next breakout star even before you get your first gig. Size does matter and the bigger you look in your social media footprint, the better people will assume you are. This is a psychological effect where individuals assume that things are good simply because they are popular.

Social media makes this incredibly easy for you to tap into this effect to enhance your music by putting out a serious social media campaign. Don’t get caught in the vinyl age when the future of music is in social media.

Gambling On Success: Pop Bands & Bad Habits

The music industry has been known to have a lot of issues with substance abuse. In fact, many people associate musicians with addictions to drugs and alcohol, and, surprisingly, gambling as well.

Pop band members or solo artists are typically at risk for addiction because they endure a significant amount of stress. There is always the need to have a flawless performance on each and every show. Aside from the long hours, most musicians feel that sense of instability and loneliness. There is also the difficulty of coping with fame and public image, not to mention the peer pressure from people who are already abusing drugs, alcohol, sex, and gambling.

Here are some popular musicians who have struggled and battled addiction of drugs, alcohol and gambling in their lives…

Kurt Cobain
In 1994, Nirvana’s former frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead at his home with a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. He struggled with heroin addiction, chronic health problems, and depression. He was never able to permanently wean himself off heroin and large doses of the drug were found in his system following his April 1994 suicide. He was 27.

Eric Clapton
Drug addiction and alcohol abuse are what rock guitarist Eric Clapton struggled with for years. Beating drugs and alcohol was not easy for Clapton. He successfully kicked heroin out of his system first but had to go to rehab twice before finally beating his alcohol addiction for good.

Ozzy Osbourne
Living heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has survived 40 years of drug and alcohol addiction. He had a relapse back in 2013 but got back on the right track and had been sober since. He’s now undergoing intense therapy for sex addiction.

Steve Tyler
Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler had difficulty battling his drug and alcohol addiction. He tried so hard that he went to rehab eight times before finally kicking his habit. He’s living sober and happy these days but says staying clean is a daily battle as he will always be addicted to drugs and alcohol.

Jimi Hendrix
In 1970, Jimi Hendrix, arguably the world’s greatest guitar hero died of a drug overdose at the age of 27. He used many different types of drugs, including LSD, marijuana, heroin, and amphetamines, and was said to have recklessly mixed drugs and alcohol before his death.

Gladys Knight
Music legend Gladys Knight had a ten-year gambling addiction with blackjack and baccarat. She was also into sports betting. The biggest amount she lost was $45,000 on a high-stakes binge. Her wake-up call was when she realised she was gambling instead of being home to get her son ready for school. She turned to Gamblers Anonymous and got the help she needed to finally put an end to her addiction.

Between gambling, drugs, and alcohol, some people think that gambling is much less of a concern. These days, it’s also the easiest to do because now you can gamble without having to go to the casino. One needs to simply turn to their computers and check this site out or just pick up the phone to bet. People who are addicted to gambling tend to feel that it’s not as big of a deal compared to drugs and alcohol, but the reality is being addicted to it causes significant issues as well.

It’s unfortunate that some of the most successful musicians are hooked on drugs, alcohol, and gambling. Whilst others end up dead and some still dependent, there are others who were able to successfully fight their addictions and tell their stories to serve as inspiration and hope to others who are going through the same battle.

It is pretty common for fans to follow the latest trend with regards to the clothing style of their favorite pop artists. For that matter, it is important for fans to find matching fashion statements without going way overboard with regards to their budget allocation. It should be noted that fans will not be finding any shortage of reference and source material when you decide to look for cool fashion trends that are worn by pop divas over the internet. One of the popular idols include Robyn Rihanna Fenty or is commonly known as Rihanna. Rihanna is a Barbadian singer and songwriter who has made quite a number of hits in the world music charts. Aside from their songs, Rihanna is also known to have a great sense of fashion and this is the reason why her fans often follow her trends. This year we are able to see Rihanna in varying styles depending on her mood. While out in New York, Rihanna was seen wearing Balenciaga Denim Asymmetrical Dress and Manolo Blahnik boots. She was also seen wearing Maison Margiela pants at NYC during her leisure days. On other occasions, Rihanna wore a Matthew Dolan denim jacket and Balenciaga stole with a silky floral slipdress for a night out in Hollywood with Drake.

Stick Insect Dishes: Food for Fashionable Folks

Let’s face it, fashionable folk are thin. Designers do not, generally, fashion clothes for fat people. New fashions are usually sleek and sexy, not lumpy and frumpy. What then, do these skinny fashion statements eat? I like to call them ‘stick insects’, especially the women who do yoga and whose bones stick out like the exoskeleton of a Praying Mantis. What do these stick insects eat, when they are not doing yoga and Pilates? Unlike the earlier generations of fashion models and wannabe actresses they do not live on caffeine and cigarettes.

Stick Insect Dishes: Food for Fashionable Folks

No, these super slim gals are just a wheatgrass juice away from starvation, but in their own minds extremely healthy. A salad of raw crunchy crudités is a serious repast for those with the jutting pelvic bones, just above the pubis. Permanently ensconced in tights and Lycra, they stretch and breathe most moments into infinity. What other stick insect dishes; food for fashionable folks is on their daily menu? It would be wrong to speak of a diet, because it is the last thing on their mind. In their fat free world, the moon is not made of cheese, because they are definitely vegan.

When froths were cool in molecular kitchens, these gals could go a froth or two on a big white plate. Actually, having the right kind of kitchen is de rigour, if you are going to succeed as a stick insect. Plenty of bench space, where you can prep your organic salads and homegrown wheat grass. If you are on the raw food diet, you need a bloody big blender and juicer. Did you know that you can make a raw food lasagne? With no pasta, of course, just raw veggies cut or processed in different ways to make layers of textured veg in a dish.

www.sydneyrenovationsbathrooms.com.au can transform your kitchen into a temple for the preparation of raw food dishes. Imagine all the space you will have, because you don’t require any large appliances that actually cook anything. Of course, you will need a massive sized refrigerator to store all your super fresh ingredients. One of those stainless steel double door beauties, that you can catch your super skinny reflection in. Check out those jutting bones and tiny breasts. Stick insect dishes: food for fashionable folks are best catered for in a dream kitchen. Where you can chop and stretch, mix and bend, stir and shimmy, whizz and whirl… to your heart’s content!

Doing the Dirty Down Under: Pop Stars Who Visit Brothels

It is ironic that loaded and popular pop stars would take the services of prostitutes or would visit brothels, rather than exploiting their popularity to charm equally attractive people. There are also gossips about rock stars and musicians who have sexual relations with groupies while on tour. Having said this, they still yearn for sexual intimacy with call girls and escorts.

Rumor has it that pop stars who visit Sydney or perform in the area indulge in illicit commercial sex. They always look for a top Sydney brothel where discreet prostitutes can give them a good time. The following pop sensations were alleged to have paid for prostitutes and did it Down Under:

  • Justin Bieber

Recently, Justin Bieber has been linked to several prostitution scandals. In fact, photos of him going outside a prominent brothel in Brazil circulated online. Even with the enforced security measures by his bodyguards, Bieber was identified due to his tattoos.

According to reports, Bieber paid £1,200 for two Brazilian prostitutes. The girls were also spotted trailing Bieber’s car after he got out of the brothel. When the pop star was in Sydney for a tour, he was said to have arranged a party in his suite. However, the catch is that those who would “join him” must sign an agreement. The contract instructs “party-goers” to not tweet or post photos while at the party. Else, pay $5 million.

  • Hugh Grant

The actor/pop star was marred with a sex scandal after he was caught with an escort during one of his dalliances. Gossip blogs reveal that Grant was also involved in numerous sexual affairs with prostitutes every time he’s in Australia.

  • Boy George

Then pop sensation Boy George was found guilty of detaining a male escort in 2009. He was accused of hitting and thrashing the said escort, aside from cuffing him to a fixture. According to tittle-tattle from male escort companies in Australia, Boy George paid escorts for “company” and whatnot.

  • Miley Cyrus

We all know that after Liam called off their engagement, Miley became more open about herself and her sexuality (aka a total wreck). Celebrity blogs reported her having casual one night stands with male and female escorts. Some even envied her for getting to enjoy “the best of both worlds.”

Hot Asian Pop Groups in 2016

This 2016 is said to be a bustling year for Korean Pop (K-Pop) fans in the North America. Billboard reported that various K-Pop bands are set to conquer the stage across the continent this year. In fact, several K-Pop cons and festivals will be held in Canada and the United States.

Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese boy bands are also well-received not only in Asia, but also across other continents. However, the popularity of K-pop groups are towering above Asia for several years in a row. Some Asian music experts believe that Hallyu helped K-Pop make their way  on American, Australian and European soil. According to ACM Group, an Asian-Australian website, here are three of the hottest Asian groups this 2016:

  • Big Bang

Major US news agencies believe that Big Bang is the biggest band in Asia. The Washington Post reported that “they’re one of the biggest boy bands in the world.” Big Bang was also compared with One Direction, and it seemed that 1D’s shows are poorly attended when weighed up against Big Bang’s concerts.

The group made its debut on August 2006. Big Bang’s fame started with their song “Lies”, which received several accolades such as Song of the Year. G-Dragon, Seungri, Daesung, T.O.P and Taeyang make up the hit K-Pop boy band.

  • 2Ne1

This female quartet is one of the biggest girl groups in the world to date. Their first debut single was launched in 2009, which marked the beginning of the group’s career. Among 2Ne1’s popular songs are “Fire”, “I Don’t Care” and “I am the Best.”

In 2012, The New York Times dubbed 2Ne1’s New Jersey Concert as the “Best Concert of 2012.” This female group is composed of CL, Dara, Bom and Minzy. However, it was confirmed that Minzy left 2Ne1 earlier this year.

  • BTS

BTS or Bangtan Boys started their career in 2013. Since then, they have received several awards such as Best World Performer in MNet Asian Music Awards. This seven-member K-Pop boy band has a large social media following. In fact, Twitter introduced their first K-Pop emoji accenting Bangtan Boys.

BTS had performed in Asia, Europe, North America, Australia and South America. The group released their Japanese single “Run” earlier this year. Jin, Suga, Jungkook, V, Jimin, Rap Monster and J-Hope form BTS.

Disabled Recording Artists Making a Bigger Splash

What the media does not always showcase are those recording artists, those musicians living with disabilities while also performing to the highest of industry standards. Many disabled famous names battled years if not a whole lifetime with illness or disability. Ludwig Van Beethoven, at the age of 26, began to lose his hearing. His problems began with a severe form of tinnitus, further complicated by lead poisoning, typhus, or possibly his habit of immersing his head in cold water to stay awake. Whatever the cause, Beethoven’s deafness curbed his performing and conducting career, but didn’t slow his prolific output as a composer. In the last twenty-five years of his life, when his hearing was gone, he wrote some of his best-known works.

Jazz Master, Django Reinhardt, grew up in a gypsy camp outside Paris, where he learned to play guitar and violin fluidly. As an 18-year-old musician he was badly burned in a caravan fire leaving his right leg paralysed and his left hand partially mutilated. Reinhardt learned to walk again with the help of a cane and retaught himself how to play guitar while disabled, employing the index and middle fingers on his left hand. Inspired by Louis Armstrong, he concentrated on the jazz genre becoming one of the all-time greats. Similarly, there was a lot of trauma in Ray Charles’ childhood. At age 5 he witnessed the drowning death of his younger brother. Soon after, he began to gradually lose his sight. By age seven, Ray was blind thus disabled. With his mother’s encouragement, he took up music and learned to play piano, organ, sax, clarinet, and trumpet. By age 15, he was touring the country with dance bands. With a career that took in R&B, jazz, soul, pop, and country, he became one of the 20th century’s truly legendary performers.

The country music star Hank Williams was born with spina bifida occulta, a disorder of the spine that meant a lifetime of chronic back pain. But it didn’t prevent Williams from writing and recording countless all-time classics like “Hey Good Lookin’” and “I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry“. In 1951 after a fall during a hunting trip, Hank’s pain grew unbearable. An unsuccessful surgery led to a morphine addiction, alcohol abuse and an untimely death at the age of 29. Stevie Wonder, born Steveland Morris, was delivered premature and rushed into an incubator. An excess of oxygen caused him to lose his sight. But like his hero Ray Charles he turned to music, learning how to play several instruments, including drums, piano, and harmonica. Discovered by a member of Smokey Robinson’s group, the 11-year-old was brought to Motown Records. In short order, he became Stevie Wonder and had the first of many #1 hits.

As a lad growing up in London, Ian Dury was stricken with polio which left him with a shrunken arm and a hobbled gait. This only made Dury more determined to leave his mark as a disabled artist. Part of the late 1970s punk-new wave movement Dury scored quirky hits like “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick” and “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.” He continued to perform and record until his death in 2000. At 17, southpaw English guitarist Tony Iommi lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers on his right hand in an accident at a sheet metal factory. Though he considered quitting music, Iommi came up with the clever solution of making caps for his damaged fingers, which he did by melting plastic bottle tops, then covering them with leather. To ease the tension on his fingers, he used lighter gauge guitar strings detuned a few steps. The rumbling sound that resulted helped his band Black Sabbath define the heavy metal era in the 1970s.

The late blues rocker Jeff Healey lost his eyesight to cancer when he was one years old. Two years later, he was given his first guitar. Though he was shown the usual way to hold the instrument, he found it more comfortable on his lap, with his fretting hand above the neck. His unorthodox approach contributed to the amazingly fluid, soulful style that helped him sell millions of records in the mid-80s. Healey was also accomplished on trumpet and clarinet, playing old time jazz. He died at age 41 in 2008. The list is long and distinguished and continually growing. Like the human spirit, music knows no bounds and will always make an impact from both the most and the least likely of sources.

The Pick of Pop Star Performance Injuries

Pop Stars around the globe have all experienced that one performance when things didn’t go as planned. For instance, one of the most talked about moments of the 2015 Brit Awards  came when Madonna experienced what looked like a bad fall backwards off a flight of stairs while performing the single “Living for Love.” The pop queen miraculously recovered and completed the show bravely although video footage of the plunge continued to be the story well after the award show. Madonna sat down with journalists in the days following to give her own version of events. “I didn’t hurt my butt, I hurt my head” she recalled to a British reporter, “I know how to fall, I’ve fallen off my horse many times and I tucked and I have good core strength but I had a little bit of a whiplash and I smacked the back of my head so there was a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3 a.m. making sure that I was still compos mentis” she added.

Due to the song lyrics “Took me to heaven and let me fall down / Now that it’s over I’m just gonna carry on / Lifted me up and watched me stumble /After the heartache I’m gonna carry on” some sceptical fans questioned whether the fall was a stunt? While Madonna denied that her stage gaffe was planned, she did recognize the coincidence. “I’m never writing lyrics like that again! The universe was trying to teach me a lesson I guess.” Madonna further elaborated on how exactly the wardrobe malfunction resulted in her falling backwards onto the ground. “I’m a creature of habit and I rehearse everything, I was thrown a wrench at the very beginning of my entrance. I was told to tie my cape and start much further back than we had rehearsed so because I had to walk so much further, everybody was worried that my cape was going to slide off because it’s quite heavy so they tied it really tight around my neck,” Madonna said. “So here I am marching in like a queen and I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled my silky string and it would not come undone and my two lovely Japanese dancers basically strangled me off the stage. I had a choice, I could either be strangled or fall with the cape and I fell.”

While the video of Madonna’s spill quickly went viral, the singer admits she hasn’t watched it. “It was a horrible nightmare because I like to be amazing. Seriously I rehearse and I rehearse and I rehearse so that when I do the show, it’s effortless and I create magic and I did the opposite” she said. “I actually created a horror show for everyone.”

Karlie Kloss was seen turning to best friend Taylor Swift in the audience with a mortified look as onlookers watched the stage veteran tumble and then battle on with conviction. Madonna appeared to land on her back with a bang after she fell down a flight of three steps mid-performance. She paused for around a minute where she couldn’t muster the strength to sing. But the singer dusted herself off, brushed over her hair and stood up to ascend the steps once again without her cape.

The veteran was no doubt disappointed by the incident because she was said to be ‘desperate to give the performance of her life’ as rehearsals piled on the pressure. She was left stunned by the incident but with more than three decades in the business, it didn’t appear to affect her performance. She was quick to reassure fans that she was ‘fine’ in the midst of their concern and even praised the beauty of her specially-designed Armani cape. Madonna’s outfit was the brain of her stylist B Akerlund and alongside the cape talking point it featured a sleek leather jacket, custom made by Nicolas Jebran, which was embellished with black crystals and ruby stones as well as an ‘M’ emblem. Back in her stride, the costume allowed the Like A Virgin singer to move around the stage freely and she even pulled some of her racier on stage moves – something that could have had tongues wagging if it wasn’t for the unfortunate incident.

Unsurprisingly Madonna’s entourage has since grown. Her chiropractor, Dr. Steven Margolin, the latest addition joining the 50-year-old singer on her Sticky and Sweet world tour. “It’s going to be very draining, and she needs him around to aid in her recovery time after each show” an insider tells Life & Style. Because of the world tour and the recent scandal over her involvement with New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez “She’s more stressed-out than ever” says the insider, who adds, “She’ll have daily massages to relax and she’s trying to stay physically and mentally strong.”

Other celebrities that engage the regular use of chiropractic treatment include Arnold Schwarzenegger who says “I am very fortunate to have my own in-house chiropractor, Dr. Franco Colombu, he adjusts my wife, my kids, everybody gets an adjustment. And we feel always great when Franco leaves. That’s why I will be traveling all over the world, talking highly about the profession, chiropractic doctors are really miracle workers”

Dan O’Brien, a decathlon gold medallist, says “If it were not for the chiropractic treatment, I would not have won the gold.” Actor Mel Gibson agrees “You get hurt all the time” he says “All you gotta do is just like eight takes of running down a hill and you twist an ankle, I got a chiropractor to come along to the Patriot shoot, because they can actually stick you back together within 15 minutes. He used to come every other week, from Los Angeles to South Carolina, spend a week and work on the entire crew. All the stunt guys were like, ‘Oh, fix my disc.’ He’s putting their discs back in. It was amazing.”

Sports celebrities Joe Montana and Tiger Woods both sing the praise of the chiropractic industry “I’ve been going to Chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to training as practicing my swing” explains Tiger. These famous people all have the ability to choose any health care in the world, the simple fact is Chiropractic treatment not only enhances but prolongs the health and performance of every human being.
