Pop Stars around the globe have all experienced that one performance when things didn’t go as planned. For instance, one of the most talked about moments of the 2015 Brit Awards came when Madonna experienced what looked like a bad fall backwards off a flight of stairs while performing the single “Living for Love.” The pop queen miraculously recovered and completed the show bravely although video footage of the plunge continued to be the story well after the award show. Madonna sat down with journalists in the days following to give her own version of events. “I didn’t hurt my butt, I hurt my head” she recalled to a British reporter, “I know how to fall, I’ve fallen off my horse many times and I tucked and I have good core strength but I had a little bit of a whiplash and I smacked the back of my head so there was a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3 a.m. making sure that I was still compos mentis” she added.
Due to the song lyrics “Took me to heaven and let me fall down / Now that it’s over I’m just gonna carry on / Lifted me up and watched me stumble /After the heartache I’m gonna carry on” some sceptical fans questioned whether the fall was a stunt? While Madonna denied that her stage gaffe was planned, she did recognize the coincidence. “I’m never writing lyrics like that again! The universe was trying to teach me a lesson I guess.” Madonna further elaborated on how exactly the wardrobe malfunction resulted in her falling backwards onto the ground. “I’m a creature of habit and I rehearse everything, I was thrown a wrench at the very beginning of my entrance. I was told to tie my cape and start much further back than we had rehearsed so because I had to walk so much further, everybody was worried that my cape was going to slide off because it’s quite heavy so they tied it really tight around my neck,” Madonna said. “So here I am marching in like a queen and I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled my silky string and it would not come undone and my two lovely Japanese dancers basically strangled me off the stage. I had a choice, I could either be strangled or fall with the cape and I fell.”
While the video of Madonna’s spill quickly went viral, the singer admits she hasn’t watched it. “It was a horrible nightmare because I like to be amazing. Seriously I rehearse and I rehearse and I rehearse so that when I do the show, it’s effortless and I create magic and I did the opposite” she said. “I actually created a horror show for everyone.”
Karlie Kloss was seen turning to best friend Taylor Swift in the audience with a mortified look as onlookers watched the stage veteran tumble and then battle on with conviction. Madonna appeared to land on her back with a bang after she fell down a flight of three steps mid-performance. She paused for around a minute where she couldn’t muster the strength to sing. But the singer dusted herself off, brushed over her hair and stood up to ascend the steps once again without her cape.
The veteran was no doubt disappointed by the incident because she was said to be ‘desperate to give the performance of her life’ as rehearsals piled on the pressure. She was left stunned by the incident but with more than three decades in the business, it didn’t appear to affect her performance. She was quick to reassure fans that she was ‘fine’ in the midst of their concern and even praised the beauty of her specially-designed Armani cape. Madonna’s outfit was the brain of her stylist B Akerlund and alongside the cape talking point it featured a sleek leather jacket, custom made by Nicolas Jebran, which was embellished with black crystals and ruby stones as well as an ‘M’ emblem. Back in her stride, the costume allowed the Like A Virgin singer to move around the stage freely and she even pulled some of her racier on stage moves – something that could have had tongues wagging if it wasn’t for the unfortunate incident.
Unsurprisingly Madonna’s entourage has since grown. Her chiropractor, Dr. Steven Margolin, the latest addition joining the 50-year-old singer on her Sticky and Sweet world tour. “It’s going to be very draining, and she needs him around to aid in her recovery time after each show” an insider tells Life & Style. Because of the world tour and the recent scandal over her involvement with New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez “She’s more stressed-out than ever” says the insider, who adds, “She’ll have daily massages to relax and she’s trying to stay physically and mentally strong.”
Other celebrities that engage the regular use of chiropractic treatment include Arnold Schwarzenegger who says “I am very fortunate to have my own in-house chiropractor, Dr. Franco Colombu, he adjusts my wife, my kids, everybody gets an adjustment. And we feel always great when Franco leaves. That’s why I will be traveling all over the world, talking highly about the profession, chiropractic doctors are really miracle workers”
Dan O’Brien, a decathlon gold medallist, says “If it were not for the chiropractic treatment, I would not have won the gold.” Actor Mel Gibson agrees “You get hurt all the time” he says “All you gotta do is just like eight takes of running down a hill and you twist an ankle, I got a chiropractor to come along to the Patriot shoot, because they can actually stick you back together within 15 minutes. He used to come every other week, from Los Angeles to South Carolina, spend a week and work on the entire crew. All the stunt guys were like, ‘Oh, fix my disc.’ He’s putting their discs back in. It was amazing.”
Sports celebrities Joe Montana and Tiger Woods both sing the praise of the chiropractic industry “I’ve been going to Chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to training as practicing my swing” explains Tiger. These famous people all have the ability to choose any health care in the world, the simple fact is Chiropractic treatment not only enhances but prolongs the health and performance of every human being.
